logo angkatan laut vector The Indonesian National Army Navy (or commonly abbreviated as TNI Navy or TNI-AL) is a branch of the armed forces and is part of the Indonesian National Army (TNI) which is responsible for the defense operations of the Republic of Indonesia at sea.
The Indonesian Navy was formed on September 10, 1945, which at the time it was formed was named the People's Security Agency (BKR Laut) which was part of the People's Security Agency.
The Indonesian Navy is led by a Chief of Naval Staff (KASAL) who is the supreme leader at the Navy Headquarters (MABESAL). Since May 20, 2020, the position of KASAL has been held by Admiral TNI Yudo Margono.
The TNI-AL's strength is currently divided into 3 fleet commands, namely, Fleet I Command (Koarmada I) based in Jakarta, Armada II Command (Koarmada II) based in Surabaya, and Armada Command III (Koarmada III) based in Sorong, and the Military Naval Command (Kolinlamil), the Naval Hydro-Oceanography Center (Pushidrosal), and the Marine Corps (Kormar).
